MoodleMoot Richard Wyle

July 25, 2006

Richard is

from New Zealand so geographically very different but with a lot of similarity. The big NZ investment in Moodle is described at eduforge.org/projects/nzvle. Part of their selection of Moodle over other open source software was that they submited a patch to several OS VLEs and Moodle the one that fixed it. They devised eduforge based on sourceforge as a place for collaboration. He has a lot of overlapping projects including an OER repository repository.ac.nz which combines eprints, IMS CP and Moodle. Now looking at developing a multi-environment plugin with different repository systems. Both content and research repositories planned. This was all illustrated with some nice but increasingly complex diagrams. A question about the provision of granulated services led to interesting comment about RSS as a way to get content matched to students. Profiles for students led to work on  myMoodle but also use of elgg to provide an umbrella system. Elgg and Moodle integration already available but the portfolio/profile system is trageted for June 2007.
